Mankeshwar ( Mahadev Temple )




Mankeshwar is a panchayat village in Bhoom Tehsil, Osmanabad district of Maharashtra, India


It is known for its Shiva temple and Goddess Satwai Devi temple.

The Shiva temple in Mankeshwar, is among the type of temple called "Hemandpanti mandirs"

This mandir is built out of one black rock which has nice beautiful art in it. There is a Shiva Linga in the temple which is below the ground level and you have to get down by stairs for darshan.

Here is a river flowing around the temple which makes a curve around temple.
The Satwai devi temple is beside Shiva mandir. Satwai devi is the goddess of destiny and is also known as the sixth-day goddess.

This temple is built in 1100 to 1150 and of Chalukya era.

Khidrapur



The Kopeshwar is an Ancient & beautiful temple situated on the bank of Krishna. It was built around 11-12 century by Shilahar. Shivling facing north,
 but there is no nandi.
The ceiling is semi-circular with matchless engravings. On the outside complete 'Shivaleetamrit' is carved When sati Parvati jumped into Daxa's sacrifice, Lord Shiva was angry. He got peace of mind in this temple. From entrance to Shivaling, we feel peace, coldness and dark.

In Shravan, on Monday & Shivratri the man
dir is crowded. The palanquin celebration is simply spectacular! 

It is situated app. 65 KM from Kolhapur and 15 KM from Nrusinhawadi.

Gokhale Institute



Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics (GIPE) is Founded in 1930 by R. R. Kale. The Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics (GIPE) is one of the oldest institutions for economics teaching and research in India. Though mainly a research Institute, from its inception the M.A. and Ph.D degrees offered by GIPE. The Institute is located in the premises of the Servants of India Society, established in 1905 by the great Indian nationalist leader Gopal Krishna Gokhale (1866-1915).




Almost 100+ yrs old banyan Tree.
Below this tree Gokhale and Mahatma Gandhi used to discuss political issues.

Aagakhan Palace



The Aga Khan Palace was built in 1892 by Sultan Muhammed Shah Aga Khan III. Mahatama Gandhi, his wife Kasturba Gandhi and his secretary Mahadev Desai were interned in the palace from 9 August 1942 to 6 May 1944, following the launch of Quit India Movement.
Kasturba Gandhi and Mahadev Desai died during their captivity period in the palace and have their Samadhis located over there. Aga Khan palace has Italian arches and spacious lawns. Prince Karim Aga Khan donated this palace to Gandhi Smarak Samittee in 1972.
